Finance can be a difficult and tedious subject. This is an excellent beginners book. Worth the money.

I needed this book as the text for my Finance class. So far from what I can tell it is a pretty thorough book.

3 out of 5 stars Decent Textbook but you better buy the Solutions Guide Also   February 28, 2009

This textbook was an ok read, with many examples listed in the chapter. However, I was suprised by the lack of solutions in the back of the book and on top of that several were wrong. If one was to purchase this book for a Finance class, I would urge them to also purchase the Solutions guide also sold on Amazon(here's the link:Corporate Finance: Core Principles and Applications). The solution guide was an invaluable resource as it provides not just the solutions to every end of chapter problem, but it also shows the various steps taken to arrive at the solution. Also, it provides in-depth explanations for the more challenging problems. In conclusion, one better buy the solutions guide in addition to this textbook if they wish to get a solid understanding of the material.

3 out of 5 stars bad book   September 7, 2009

I really do not think this is a good book. It does not have enough examples for the formulas and they are a little difficult to understand without sufficient examples being given. I would not recommend this book for any class and I think professors who are wanting to use this book should pick a different book.

1 out of 5 stars I pity you if your professor has chosen this book   March 28, 2009

This book is horrifically written, strays too far into the technical aspects of finance and lacks an understandable review of concepts and strategies. It frequently uses terminology it does not define and its organization lacks any kind of logic. I recommend what I ended up doing for my MBA finance class- get Higgins' book "Analysis for Financial Management" and find out what a finance textbook should really be like. I would give this book no stars if I could.
